The band rounded off another successful year by coming second in the Scottish Challenge Shield competition held in the Bonar Hall, Dundee on 6th December. Competing with fourteen bands, the band gave a rousing rendition of “Coventry Variations” by Bramwell Tovey and gained an excellent critique from adjudicators, Sandy Smith, Richard Evans and Philip Harper.
The Youth section of the band also had a successful year culminating with a second place at Perth Concert Hall, when competing in the Development Section of the Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships on 27th November. Ann Ness, musical director of the band commented, “as this was their first year competing in this section. It was quite an achievement.
